The Montagnard
Foundation orders its people inside the Central Highlands to cease
participation and resist the Vietnamese government’s coercive birth
control programs as they are genocidal and aimed at eliminating the
Degar (Montagnard) people. In no circumstances are further
sterilizations and birth control methods to be applied to our
people. There is too much evidence and countless reports of
Vietnamese authorities using force, coercion and bribery to lower
our population. Some of our women have already died undergoing
surgery.
Right now
thousands of Vietnamese government security forces are enforcing
martial law in our homelands. These soldiers are committing human
rights abuses with impunity against our people. Since February 2001
the Vietnamese government has burned down our Christian Churches,
killed, arrested and imprisoned our people because they want to
stop us from becoming Christians. Further they want to eliminate
our indigenous race so they can confiscate our ancestral homelands
to exploit our natural resources. Over 1000 Degar refugees who
escaped the crackdown are now in Cambodia and their fate is
uncertain.
And now increased sterilization programs go
unmonitored in our villages.
In February 2002
the Vietnamese government stated (see, Asia Pulse 2002) that
it intends to increase the birth control methods to our people
through sterilizations and birth control. Our woman now report they
are threatened, bribed or forced into getting sterilized The years
of abuse our people have suffered shows the criminal intent how
Vietnam wants to slowly kill off our race.
This genocide
must stop. In the name of humanity all birth control programs in
the central highlands should cease until international monitors can
fully investigate the abuses in the central highlands. Martial law
must be lifted in the central highlands and the thousands of
soldiers must leave our hill tribe people in peace.
